Each scapular is prayerfully made to order by hand with 100% wool patches which are connected by a chainstitched ribbon that is worn over the shoulders. Standard length of the ribbon is approximately 17." Custom lengh available upon request.

A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE BROWN SCAPULARIn 1251 Our Lady appeared to St. Simon Stock, handed him a brown woolen scapular, and said “This shall be a privilege for you and all Carmelites, that anyone dying in this habit shall not suffer eternal fire.”The Church has since extended this magnificent privilege to all laity who are willing to be invested with the Brown Scapular and wear it perpetually.The scapular must consist of two pieces of brown cloth (wool) that hang around the wearer's neck with one patch on the chest and the other on the back. These pieces are joined by two straps or cords.Religious pictures or symbols, though unnecessary, may be added; this custom began in the eighteenth century.
